The Starry Night by Van Gogh
One of the most famous paintings in the world was painted in a hospital!?
Vincent van Gogh painted The Starry Night in June 1889 while staying at the asylum in Saint-Rémy, France. The village in the picture could not be seen from his window; he painted it from memory and imagination. The bright star is Venus, the morning star. In his one year there he made about 150 paintings. The canvas measures 73.7 × 92.1 cm and hangs at MoMA in New York.
