Squeeze Earth to the size of a marble and it becomes a black hole
A black hole's gravity is so strong that not even light can escape!
A black hole is a place where gravity is so strong that not even light can escape. It forms when a giant star explodes as a supernova and its core collapses. Squeeze Earth down to the size of a marble, or the Sun to about 6 kilometres across, and it would become a black hole!
The closest known black hole to Earth, Gaia BH1, is about 1,500 light-years away.
