Python: the language of AI was born from a hobby
The language of AI was born from a Christmas hobby in 1989!
Python is the world's most popular programming language — and it started as a hobby.
In December 1989, Dutch programmer Guido van Rossum began writing a new language over the Christmas holidays. The name comes not from the snake but from the British comedy show Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Released in 1991, with Python 3 in 2008, it now powers AI and data analysis through NumPy, pandas and PyTorch.
